Lights updates

2 June 2025

The Unipro 3-phase track system is a professional-grade lighting solution, increasingly popular in both residential and commercial interiors. It allows you to power three independent circuits from a single track, offering great flexibility in lighting design. In this guide, we'll walk you through selecting and installing the entire system, including clear instructions on when to use left or right power supplies and "L" connectors (left or right).

Components of the track lighting system

The system consists of:

  • Tracks – Aluminium profiles with conductive rails and a grounding element, available in 1-meter or 2-meter lengths (can be cut to size).
  • Track lights – Fixtures that attach directly to the track.
  • Power supply – Components that supply power to the circuit, available in different configurations:
    • Power supply from the end (left/right)
    • Power supply from the middle
    • Power supply from connector (I, L, T, X)
  • Connectors – Used to join track sections:
    • “I” – for straight connections
    • “L” – for 90° corners (available in left/right versions)
    • “T” – for three-way branches
    • “F” – for flexible angles or custom layouts
    • “X” – for cross intersections .
  • End caps – To safely cover open ends of the track.

Key planning considerations

Layout planning

Before purchasing and installing:

  • Measure your space and define the desired track route.
  • Sketch the layout, indicating all corners, branches, and end points.
  • Mark the power input location – decide where the system will be powered from.
  • Choose where each light will be placed and on which circuit (e.g., separate switches for different zones).

A well-prepared plan helps prevent mistakes and simplifies installation.

Critical Choices: Track Power Inputs and "L" Connectors

RIGHT vs. LEFT power supply – How to choose?

Power supplies are mounted at the beginning or end of a track. The correct side (right or left) depends on the track’s orientation and grounding element placement.

Power can also be introduced at different points in the layout using connectors such as the external “I,” “L” (right/left), “T,” or “X” connectors. This is particularly useful when you want to supply power from a central or alternate location.

RIGHT vs. LEFT "L" connectors – Which one to use?

"L" connectors allow you to create a 90-degree turn.

🛠️ Tip: Don’t rely solely on the connector’s label (right or left). Always check the grounding rail and locking mechanism – these determine the correct orientation and compatibility based on the direction of the track power input.

Below you’ll find examples of L-shaped layouts and matching product sets you can use for each variant.

Installation guide – Step by step

Step 1: Preparation

  • Turn off the power at the installation site,
  • Mark the mounting points for brackets or suspension kits,
  • Lay out all components without fixing them to ensure everything fits.

Step 2: Mount tracks and connectors

  • Mount the tracks according to your plan,
  • Join them using the appropriate connectors.

Step 3: Power connection

  • Use the correct power supply for your layout – left or right,
  • Connect the wires as per the instructions, ensuring the phase alignment is correct,
  • Alternatively, supply power via the external “I,” “X,” “T,” or “L” connectors (left or right).

Step 4: Install the lights

  • Slide the lights into the track and lock them in place,
  • Use the switch on each fixture’s base to select the desired circuit,
  • Adjust the beam direction as needed.

Step 5: Final touches

  • Attach end caps to all open ends of the track,
  • Restore power and test the system for proper operation.

Summary

A 3-phase track lighting system is an excellent choice for those who value versatility, aesthetics, and the ability to control separate lighting zones. Proper planning and choosing the right components – especially track power inputs and connectors – are key to a successful installation.
